Happy New Year Everyone, I truly mean that . I am doing well after my surgery. I have been away from here because I am a candy maker. But..... I do love to write. I hope all is well in your life. If, it is not, then it is time to change that. 1. We need to get more rest, and after the holidays, it is a must. It help3.ng. 2. Eat Better. Clean up your garbage plate and put some new things on it like home grown food. Or local food. 3. Go out and look your best. You do not need the new fashion, just a clean body and a smile. I remember when I grew up in the sixties.Oh it was such fun. We spent everyday just feeling free a nd happy. You remember the flower children, I was one of those. I was just saying the other day, that everyone was our friend. People got along with everyone. 4. Talk or smile on everyone. They maybe hurting inside and you may just save a life in a day. It doesn't take much to say hello, good morning. 5.The rest is up to you. Well, I have lost a lot of weight fast because of this surgery. 65 pounds in 3 months. I feel better tho. No burning in my throat. I can talk. We all can communicate in one form or another. So even if you are mad at your boyfriend or girlfriend the cold shoulder, that still is a form of communication. Not a very good conversation there. When we look with our eyes different, that is communication. Body language is communication. So we have to be aware of what we are doing around others. When I was sick with my stomach and throat, I was angry. Everyone knew it. I can not apologize enough. I felt so guilty after. I was not myself. There was not a lot of empathetic around me. I feel much better. I worked in health care for years and I got to read people fairly easy. Sometimes its not the pain so much as the mental feeling of being not well. For all you nursing students out there, I hope you take time to get to know your patients. Mentally people can feel better just by talking to them. Learn the power of the spoken word. Practice empathy. Really learn how it must feel if you are in their shoes. Touch a shoulder, say some comforting words. IT MEANS ALOT. Look into their eyes .Show them you care. Healing will begin. The loving words you share are is what is making up you. YOU AS A PERSON. Try it and see what happens. Thank you Miss Sandy |

Hello Everyone. Well, I'm 10 days out of surgery of LPR. LPR is Larynpharngeal Refux. I had this for a very long time. There was burning in my throat. I couldn't talk at times and I couldn't swallow most of the time, not very well. I had a cough or clearing my throat all the time. I had a procedure called roux en y. Also known as Gastric Bypass. I would have ended up with esophageal cancer if I had not had it done. I thank the Drs. that have that skill. I am over weight, but not grossly over weight that most would think , when talking about a gastric bypass. You still need to do the same diet. I have lost 12 pounds this week This is not an easy fix. I truly love what it has done for me. It gave me my life back. I hope is that anyone that has symptons like I have talked about, visit your Dr. If you are taking medications for acid reflux, there are other options. You are not to stay on these acid reducder drugs for a long time. It can knock out your pronton pump, that help you with your acid. I hope I have shared something medical that can help anyone out there. Thank you Sandy |

Happy 4th of July. It is really hot and humid here in Northern Minnesota. I AM going on the lake tomorrow. My adult boys are having fun today with their families and friends. Well today I want to talk about water. In our lakes and rivers, streams, there is bacteria there always. When the water gets too warm, that's when the bacteria can into a cut or any orifice. I am sure you all have heard of flesh eating bacteria. People who get this from water, insect bite get very sick. Sometimes the bacteria stays in your system forever. You have to take a strong antibiotic and sometimes that does not help. Sores get bigger. Its a life long process. Up here in the north we have a spider that can spread that kind of bacteria. It is call the Brown Recluse spider. They like dark places. Also, I don't know if I talked about this before, but have you heard of a fungus that grows in your lungs. It is usually from swimming or hunting in lakes where there is birds. The birds defecate in the water. Many birds. Little ponds or swamps. The lining of your lungs get thickened. Therefore when the lining is thickened, the blood which carries the oxygen can not penetrate the lining and get the oxygen there. Its a gas exchange. You will have trouble breathing and get a pneumonia. Which caarries a fever. So make sure you don't swim around or in a pond of birds. Not good for your health. In the summer its a perfect time to meet new people. I love to talk to people. They are very interesting. You can learn a lot from them. This day and age, you have to be very careful who you talk to. This to me seems very sad. We have to teach our children to be afraid. I used to take my kids to the beach in the summer all the time and they made many friends. Today with human trafficking you have to watch your little ones constantly. In a way they are losing their independence at a young age. I do not understand this. Keep your place with God. I have always wished peace throughout the world. I wish for Peace in my own country. Maybe if we all wish for peace. Love and Peace Miss Sandy. |
How to talk to someone

I have a new title today. Miss Sandy, so everyone will know I am a woman. Although , I think my father would have called men Sandy if I were a boy. I loved him so much. Today I would like to talk about,(How to talk to anyone). We all go to town and we shop ,sit and have coffee or whatever we do in town or anywhere. But...… have you noticed anyone sitting alone. I mean all alone. Sometimes people like to be alone and then , we never know why they are alone. I always find a way to talk to these people. It will take as long as I want to take. All are very interesting. The best way to start and continue is to ask questions. Keep on asking questions. Appropriate questions. Sometimes, you will find that older people may have lost a spouse and just need to be somewhere. Just to feel a part of society. It could help that person with depression or a illness that they might have. In my years of working at the hospital, I have found that the older we the more depressed we get. Our brains are not making the serotonin that it once did. Serotonin is a neuroinhibitory. It helps with memory and it contributes to feelings of well being and happiness. Many people of age will be given a antidepressant for this reason. We will all age. There is no doubt about that. But most importantly, you can learn a lot from the aged. They have lived and have memories that are worth them sharing with you and anyone. Same with the disabled and women and men who seem lost . A little communication can help emmensly. That is how we grow in intelligence and knowledge. If you want to start a group. Four or more people can do that.Meet once a week, pick a topic or a word. Talk about that. Some emotions will come out that have been there for awhile. It will help people to know that they are wanted. Start it at work or church or a coffee shop. Start with a word like friend, school, passions, cooking. The list goes on and on. Or open a magazine and find an article about something andwithout even reading it,talk about the title. More positive articles. You would not believe how much knowledge will be learned and passed along and learned. GO OUT AND TALK TO SOMEONE NEW. GET TO KNOW AND ENJOY THEM OR MOVE ON. NICE TALKING TO YOU TODAY. PEACE BE WITH YOU. SANDY |

Gastric Reflux

Good Morning I am sitting here watching it snow outside. Lots of snow. I live in Minnesota. Today I would like to talk about Acid Reflux. You know that sour stomach that can come up your throat. Yuk HUH. Well, I have learned a lot and if it helps anyone else, then I have done my job. I went to a specialist on Gastric Reflux. My symptons were nausea, Laryngitis, sore throat, ear aches, not much heart burn. For years I have quit drinking coffee, eating ice cream, peanut butter, chocolate, oranges, grapefruit, soda made me sick. It made me weak, like flu type stuff, fatigue. Just not feeling well at all. I have worn monitors, to measure the acid in my stomach. Now I have a nasal gastric tube down my throat to measure the acid or gas in my throat. It measures your ph. I have never heard of this before but my doctor sent me to this specialist. The nasal gastric tube goes to just the back of my throat. It is not painful or anything to wear. Im going to pull it our here in about 40 minutes. Then I will send the monitor back to the hospital and they will read the results. Amazing. I hope I GET AN ANSWER SOON. So, like anything in life. We need to exercise and eat good foods. I always did exercise but my food at one point in my life(for about 10 years) was not good. Obesity contributes to a lot of diseases. Smoking also. Fat around our organs weighs heavy on our heart and also the organs it surrounds. Smoking affects not only the lungs but the organs as well. STRESS now that can affect a lot of gastric problems. In your gut, that is your immune system, but also a whole host of physical ailments. You need to keep walking for your heart health which feeds all those arties and veins in the legs. You need to move your arms as well. If you are out of shape, you will begin to huff and puff. In reality your large muscles like legs, arms use a lot of oxygen ,so start slow. Do you like dancing, then dance. Badmitton, then play badmitton, It does not have to be heavy duty. Start your own agility course and invite friends and neighbors. It will be fun. Have a wonderful Day. I will answer any questions if I can. Peace to you and all over this great earth. |
Budgeting

Good evening, Tonight I would like to talk about raising children, making them financially fit.. Well, this is difficult for everyone. People who have been given everything in their life, will not understand this. There is a large percentage of americans still living with their Parents at the age of 37. I ask Why? I can probably guess that their parents or grandparents have given them everything that they want. Who would work. They can drive a car that was given to them, put gas in the car, that someone gave them money for. Generally they don't have a care in the world because someone has always taken care of them. Well, what I say to that is,HOPE THE MONEY BAGS LIVE A LONG TIME. In the meantime we have jobs all over the place that need to be filled. These young people do not want to work. They also have poor work ethics. They do not know how. In our country we are making a lot of robotics. I now know the reason. We have self check outs in our stores everywhere. We need those. Young people will work at a store, but they don't last long. They will call in sick a lot. Then they don't have enough workers to work that day. A young person can have many jobs in one year. They quit job after job. These younger people want what the older workers have NOW. They don't want to put in the time in one job. So they go back to where the money flows. That is with their parents or grand parents. I really don't know when it is going to end. We have 80 year old people who are working. I think this is disrespectful to our elders , unless they want to work. What is it going to take for these young people to get the motivation we had when we were their age. My motivation was that my parents were not rich. Like many of the children my age. We also had respect for our parents. We also wanted them to be proud of us, which in turn made them feel like they did a good job at raising a good child. If this cycle does not stop, it is going to be passed down to the next generation. This is poor job of parenting. You need to make these kids responsible, respectful and resourceful. That is our job as parents and grandparents. We parents and grandparents are not going to live long enough to take care of them financially. They need to be taught how to take care of themselves. They need to have good values. Moral values. That needs to come from us as parents. They need to taught these before they get in school. Teachers are not there to bring up your child. Their job is heavy. These young people are parents themselves at a very young age. They know very little. So who takes care of their babies.? Mom and dads and grandma and grand pa. I want these young people to have a chance. Just like me and you. Its not ok to not educate these children. With that I hope all us get a chance to teach these children anything that we know. It is our responsibility as humans to do that. Have a wonderful nite. Thank you. Peace Please. |
Health Care for All

I hope this post will find you all well. Tonight I am doing to write about Health. It starts with you as a person. It is not only how you feel. It is how you get to feeling good. The FEELING. When you wake up in the morning, are you putting that effort to cleanliness. 1. Do you Brush your teeth. 2.Wash your body, your ears. Take a look at your body. Are you Clean. 3. Make that extra effort to do your hair. Shampoo. Comb. 4. Look at your feet. No cuts or sores. Toenails cut. You see all these things matter who you are. It effects your self esteem. If you look good you feel good. Most of the bullying that goes on is because of our physical body. Sad isn't it. When your self esteem is great, you can endure anything. If you are sexual, you really need to take care of yourself. There are too many diseases out there that can and will kill you. So after you get all beautifully clean and head out into that world, make sure you make good choices. I used to tell my boys to put on their overcoat when they went out on a Friday night. I meant it. Health really begins from the inside out.Your thinking. Your thinking needs also to be cleansed. Do you know that 79% of our thoughts are negative. It takes work to change them into positive. That is what you have to do. You have to start making nice in the work place and in your family and friends. These things boost your self esteem, which in turn helps your overall health. Are you sleeping enough at night?? You need to get at least 7 hours of sleep at night. You cant be up till 2am. and expect to go to work all ready to go. Will you feel like taking time to do all the cleaning of the body when you are tired. No. You want to look and feel your best. When you put your best effort forth, there are going to be so many opportunities for you. Remember also to eat a breakfast before you walk out the door. Fuel your body, it has been burning fuel all night long. Take care my friends and your body will feel better for you. Until next time. Bye |
Lets Talk Initiative

Good Evening everyone, I have a candy store business. I have young people working in my store. Often I think that , I wish they would do things without having to be told. No employer wants to continually tell these young adults what needs to be done. I got upset the other day with a young girl working in my store. I raised my voice to her. Well, that finally got her attention. I pay my people well. To sit and complain about just about everything in life, sent me through the roof. I ordered out things to do.That evening she quit. She probably never had anyone tell her what to do. Plus , the young would not take any kind of training before. She had thought she knew it all. Maybe I humbled her, I do not know. Employers like it when employees go above and beyond their normal work. They make good people, and will go far in the world. To have to be told on and on to do things is not a good employee. So you wonder why these employees don't take the initiative to do the extra. Isnt praise better than this outcome. Family life is like this too. Families will argue over , who takes out the garbage or who does the dishes. If everyone took the initiative to do the extra, can you image the family dynamics and the work force we would have. Your reputations would be great. You will go far. You will also be rewarded well.. Just to bend over and pick a scrap of paper off the floor, put a coffee cup in the sink, do the laundry, are all extras if you don't do them all the time. That makes good kids and employees. So take the initiative to do something small extra. You will be praised in no time. It will build your self esteem and make you feel better about yourself. Thank you for reading all. Its fun. Sometimes I just pick a word and write about what is ever in my head. Nite all!! |
